I haven't thought this through in real depth...<br /><br><br />1. Living vs Dead only apply to organic entities. So it's a "category mistake" to ask if a mountain is alive or dead. It's not living, and it's not dead.<br /><br><br />2. Alexander's use of "life" to refer to "the quality that cannot be named" strikes me as a <b>METAPHOR</b>.
