Yes, having the goals be more of a v...Dear Rodney,<br /><br />Yes, having the goals be more of a vision than a plan is part of improving over master plans.<br /><br />Likewise, a crucial product of a well-run VISTA project should be a specification of the problems that were overcome, since understanding the problems is the key to progress.<br /><br />And finally, something like a master plan, which specifies the solution in detail, can be a product of the development process, but it should be shifted in emphasis from prophecy to explanation, to say this is why we used these solutions to overcome the project's problems. True, you will not know all of the problems which you may encounter, but the goal is to achieve a goal, a target, the ubiquitous "end point" that is really not an end point and is not defined in a totality of time, but in a causality of function.<br /><br />Make the master plan a vision, and leave it to the people who know how to work out the details and solve the thousand and one problems that will be encountered along the way. When the vision is realized, then it is time to cast a wider net, or in the words of Jabez, "...enlarge my territory..."Rodney H.
